A MAN who was charged following a stabbing at a Barnsley shop will appear at Sheffield Crown Court next month.

Alex Hill, of Parkland View, Barnsley, was charged with robbery, causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Police were called at 8.50pm last Thursday following a report of a robbery at Today’s Express on Pontefract Road, Lundwood.

The 26-year-old was remanded in custody having entered no plea to the charges at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

He will appear at Sheffield Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing on June 9.
