I WAS saddened to hear of the too-young death of Neil Losada from the dog training place K9 Best Behaviour. He was a lovely bloke.

We took our pup there years ago and I had Neil out to the house for a private session to sort out our rescue chow who was a flaming nightmare.

Also she was a cat-chaser and I was in a state of despair as our moggies were miserable. Within half an hour she was walking on a lead as if she had been born on it, and he told me how to manage the dog/cat thing.

As a result we have a house where dogs and cats merrily mingle. He was a good man who saved a hell of a lot of dogs from being put to sleep because of his methods.

He really knew how dogs think and so he was brilliant at what he did. You can’t battle the horrible C word, you just hope that it responds to treatment and buggers off, but sadly it wasn’t to be in this case.

Fondest and best wishes to his family from one of Neil’s very satisfied customers.

Kayleigh Nowell ‘Just a girl from Kendray’ is taking her Northern Funny Mummy show to Blackpool where I hope she is as big a success as she was at the Lamproom – how I wish I’d seen it because I love her posts on social media.

She really is funny. And she absolutely deserves her success. I could name some female comedians who seem to be on the TV every time you turn it on and I haven’t raised a smile once at anything they’ve said and I LOVE humour. Not funny.

Well she is. She’s acted on the stage at the Lamproom in plays in the past and she only has to open her mouth and my lips are curving up. I wish her good luck.

I hope there’s a bum on every seat for her future performances.

In last week’s letters page Robert Warburton says that it feels to replace Keir Starmer with Andy Burnham is like swapping one version of the same problem for another. Yup.

articlempu2

What’s indicative of the mess Labour is in is the belief held by too many that the biggest thing Burnham has going for him is that he’s not Keir Starmer.

And if he does become leader and he’s no better than Starmer, then we are no worse off really. As a convincing argument for him taking over and being effectual, it’s all limper than an over-dunked soggy digestive with erectile dysfunction isn’t it?

A ‘lady’ tracked me down last week to fire off an angry email telling me off for using swear words in my books and she will never buy another one again.

articlempu3

I didn’t reply, why bother, I wasn’t going to convince her that people swear in real life and that’s why I include it in dialogue.

And it doesn’t necessarily make them bad people. I was tempted though to inform her that I, lover of a well-placed expletive, am in the same camp as nearly everyone I know and like and admire: family, friends, some vicars and DEFINITELY other writers including the beloved Jilly Cooper and yes… even David Attenborough.

Whereas she, as a pontificating, holier than thou pompous prig with her self-righteous clean mouth is a bedfellow of Himmler, Hitler, Ted Bundy, Jimmy Savile, Jeffrey Dahmer and Pol Pot, who all abhorred bad language.

Such shining examples of the upright.
