A LOCAL indie rock band are celebrating this week after two of its members received a special award at Barnsley College.

RedlineBandUK comprises Alex Hemingway, Alexander Blundell, Noah Jennett and Matthew Barnes.

Alex and Noah, both 18, won the ‘Best Live Performance’ and the coveted Kate Rusby Award at a recent awards show at the college.

No other band has won the latter since 2007 and the trophy will remain at Barnsley College.

They’ve now also released their debut single, U n Me, and are set to release ‘It’s Coming Home To You’ next month.

Band manager Sharon Hemingway told the Chronicle: “All the band members are absolutely thrilled and feel honoured to have won the Kate Rusby award for best performance.

“They are already set to make a mini tour of local primary and secondary schools close to their hearts across Yorkshire where they intend to deliver a lively and energetic performance.

“Next week Redline are set to take part in heat six of the Battle of the Bands held in Mexborough.
