OLIVER Rowland will be looking to build on his first win of the Formula E season in the most recent race when he competes in China this week.
The 32-year-old from Penistone, who is the defending champion, won in Monaco in May 17 and has had to wait more than a month to get back in action in Sanya on Saturday.
He is currently second in the standings, 19 points off top, after ten of the 17 races – having finished on the podium six times.
Rowland said: “I’ve had a busy schedule on and off-track since the last event, including testing the GEN4 car, which was exciting.
“We’re now into the final seven races of the season, and it’s a great feeling to be heading into the run-in after some good results in Berlin and Monaco.
“We know it’s not going to be easy, but our recent performances give us plenty of confidence.
“It’s been a long time since our last visit to Sanya.
“I was new to the series and made good memories there, with my first pole and podium.
“The circuit has changed, especially in the opening corners, but it is still mostly similar to 2019.
“It’s short and simple but bumpy in places so it will bring a challenge.
“With it being a single-header, it’s going to be extremely important to get up to speed straight away.”
After the Sanya race, the global electric car championship returns to China a fortnight later for a double-header in Shanghai.
The season is then rounded off by further double-headers in Tokyo at the end of July then London in mid-August.
