Barnsley have confirmed the signing of forward Amani Richards on a three-year deal with an option for a fourth in the club’s favour.

The 21-year-old, who has joined for an undisclosed fee, was in the Chelsea and Arsenal academies before joining Leicester in 2022. He never played a first team game for the Foxes but played six times for Exeter on loan in League One in 2024, scoring once.

The former England under 16, who the Reds have tracked through several windows, can play on the wing or up front.

Head coach Daniel Stendel told the club website: "We are very happy to bring Amani to Barnsley.

"He is a player with a lot of energy, speed and potential. He likes to play forward, attack defenders and work hard for the team, which are qualities we value highly.

"Despite his young age, he has already experienced different environments at some excellent clubs and has shown that he can adapt and continue improving.

"We believe Barnsley is the right place for him to take the next step in his career, and we are excited to start working with him."

Richards added: "After speaking with the gaffer, I felt it was a great opportunity. I love the playing style he's trying to build and I feel like it fits the way that I play as well. I'm just happy to be here, excited to see what I can do, and help the team as much as possible."
