A boy genius from Royston has received a letter on behalf of the Queen after becoming one of Mensa's youngest members.

 

Sherwyn Sarabi, three, took the IQ test in September and made the news in America after amazing doctors and child psychologists.

 

He was watching ABC news with mum Amanda when he decided to write a letter to Her Majesty about his achievement.

 

Amanda, 37, said: "He said 'is the Queen proud of me?' and I said I don't know, I know she reads the newspaper but she doesn't know you so we decided to write a letter."

Sherwyn, who attends Rastrick Independent School in Brighouse, received a letter from the Queen's lady in waiting last week. In it he was congratulated for his efforts was also given some information about the monarch.

At the age of two, Sherwyn, of East End Crescent, could read, use an iPad and identify all the flags and countries of the world.

 

He said his first words at just ten-months-old and could name all 2D and 3D shapes at 18 months.

Amanda added: "This past year he has achieved so much that some people don't do in their entire lifetime. He's only three and this is just the beginning. I'm going to make sure he succeeds in every stage of his life."
