A THURLSTONE man who saw his car ‘ripped open’ by a lorry on the A628 has threatened to cause a massive traffic jam if the Mottram bypass is built.
Jon Wray’s Land Rover Discovery was badly damaged by the HGV on Sunday evening as it was parked outside his house on Manchester Road.
It is the latest in a series of incidents where residents’ vehicles have been hit by passing traffic.
The prospect of a surge in traffic using the road if the Mottram bypass is built has caused anger in the village.
Jon said: “If the bypass was built, it will just make the problem a lot worse.
“I will stop the traffic and cause the biggest obstruction ever.
“Everyone is so fed up, it‘s like banging your head against a brick wall.
“The quality of life when you are sleeping here has got worse in the last few years. “It is about time we started taking action, everyone is at breaking point.”
