A touch of Aussie sunshine beamed down on Denby Dale when two long lost cousins met for the first time.

Brian Riding, 86, of Chapel Lane, Penistone, didn't know about his cousin Jenny Barr, who lives in Perth, Australia. He only knew that his uncle had emigrated to Perth in the 1920s.

But over in Oz, Jenny and her husband Barry were aware they might have relatives in or around Barnsley.

They decided to put an advert in the Chronicle asking for help to find them, as they were coming over to the UK on a five-week golfing holiday.

The advert went in the paper and was spotted by Chronicle employee Janet Town, who figured out that Jenny was her Uncle Brian's cousin.

Brian and his wife Audrey met the Australian visitors at the Dunkirk Inn, Denby Dale, for a special lunch with other cousins. Brian said: "I was very pleased to see them.

My wife said she could see the family resemblance, and now my son might be going to Perth for a visit."
