OOH LA-LA! Nicolla Birkby, 26, and Jodie Houlden, 24, are in training for what could be the most nerve-wracking and tiring three minutes of their lives.
They are among 11 women who will perform the French dance the cancan in front of an audience of more than 170 next Saturday.
Many of them are mums aged between 24 and 45 who have spent 17 weeks practising their high kicks for the performance at Take Two Theatre, Birdwell.
They will dress in red feather head-dresses, frilly corsets, black skirts, high heels and fishnet stockings. Each costume has cost about £60.
Nicolla, of Rotherham Road, Barnsley who runs Step in Time Dance School in Worsbrough Common, has trained the women. “It has involved getting them fit and toning up the right muscles,” she said. The mums will raise money for the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals.
