WOMBWELL was still in shock this week following a blaze which killed a boy and injured five other members of his family.

Adam Stringer, 15, died on Friday morning at his home in Kitchin Road. His mother, Karen, who was seriously injured, has been detained in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

More than 30 bunches of flowers and messages of condolence have been left this week outside the boarded-up house.

The fire broke out at about 6.30am and left the semi-detached house gutted.

Casey Desmond, 15, was a friend of Adam’s in his year at Wombwell High School. She and her mum Sharon Moreby went to see the floral tributes.

Sharon said: “It is just tragic. He was a quiet lad. Casey knew him really well and went through school with him.”

Neighbours have described what happened.
