A sharp-shooter from Silkstone Common hopes to earn further international recognition after finishing one shot behind the 11-time world champion.

Clay pigeon shooter Linda Grayson came joint runner-up, alongside her coach Becky McKenzie, at the British Open Sporting, narrowly losing out to Cheryl Hall.

The 48-year-old, who achieved a score of 94 in Essex, was denied the opportunity of a shoot-off with coach Becky after suffering a reaction to three wasp stings.

She hopes her fine form will earn her more international call-ups after representing England in the USA earlier this year.

She aims to qualify for the national side again in 2014 and also aspires to perform for the GB team in two further disciplines - compak and FITASC.

Linda, who began competing four years ago, added: "I started late - I wish I'd started ten years ago."
