AN ELSECAR runner became the youngest ever winner of Elsecar’s Milton 6 road race, beating more than 130 competitors.
Ben Gosling, 17, of Armroyd Lane, Elsecar, led from start to finish.
The competition, now in its 16th year, runs from the entrance of Elsecar Park in a six mile circuit, finishing at the Milton Arms.
It is organised annually by pub landlord Phil Hickling and the Milton Arms Running Club.
Ben said: “I’ve been going well in training and had some tactics on how to run the race in my head. As the race unfolded I felt good and just went for it.
“I enjoy running and had hoped to win the event in the next few years so to win today was fantastic. I said to my dad that 'I’ll win that race one day' and he didn’t believe me.”
