Comic performers as young as six hope to bag a day out at a television news studio by telling the nativity story with some witty one-liners.
Year two children at Wilthorpe Primary School have signed up for Nativity Factor - a short film competition run by ITN asking entrants to perform the tale of the birth of Jesus in a creative new way.
Pupils decided on a light-hearted approach and have researched and written their own festive-themed jokes, as well as filming and editing the video, called 1st Comic Christmas.
School teaching assistant Sarah Russell said: "It's been hilarious watching them work on jokes - we need as many votes as possible please."
The prize for the winner includes £500 and a day at ITN's broadcast studios. Voting starts on Monday and closes on Sunday, December 8 - visit nativityfactor.com or You Tube.
