A MOTORCYCLIST who stopped to help a stricken fellow biker has been urged to contact police.

The mystery man tried to assist the seriously hurt 52-year-old Manchester rider who crashed his bike into a lamp post in Crow Edge on Sunday.

By the time police arrived at the scene, however, the second motorcyclist had left.

The injured man was detained at Northern General Hospital after the incident on the A616 shortly after 2pm when he apparently lost control of his blue 750cc Honda bike.

He suffered head, chest and leg injuries when the bike clipped a kerb and then hit a lamp post.

Officers have asked the second rider, or anyone with information, to contact them 0114 220 2970.
