PRIORY School had two visitors from Africa last week as part of a new four-year partnership with a school in Uganda.

Rock High head teacher Dinah Nyago and sports master Fred Nnyanzi, who were presented with a plaque on Wednesday, spent the week working with Priory teachers and pupils.

Priory staff will visit Uganda in March, when sports teacher Becky Wing will help set up a sports leader programme for older students.

Priory head Bernadette O’Brien said both schools would benefit from the experience.

“We’re looking at demystifying each others cultures and we'll be using some of their African artwork, music, dance and drama in lessons.

“The children are asking lots of questions and that's really good learning.

“They've discovered that there are infinitely more similarities than there are differences, so it’s been a good experience for the school.”
