THE new Hoyland Common Salvation Army citadel will hold its first service on Sunday.
It had been due to open with a carol concert the weekend before Christmas. But an energy firm's blunder led to the two week delay. Scottish and Southern Energy initially provided the wrong electricity meter. They have only been able to get the correct one this week.
Now the keys to the £450,000 citadel will be officially handed over to divisional envoy Barbara Sabin at 10am today. Final preparations and safety checks have been taking place all week. Equipment will be moved from the old building over the weekend.
