ABOUT 100 people attended an event at Barnsley Hospital to raise awareness of the care and treatment available to patients living with a stoma.
The annual Stoma Care Open Day was organised by the hospital's stoma care team.
Attendees had a chance to see the latest products available to stoma patients, as well as taking advantage of the complimentary therapies offered from the trust's cancer services team.
A stoma is a surgically created opening on the abdomen which allows stool or urine to exit the body.
There are three main types of stoma – colostomy, ileostomy and urostomy.
Jane Parker, colorectal nurse said: "This open day, and similar events, show people living with a stoma, or their relatives, that there is a wide network of support and also allows them to see what advances there have been in the products available.
"I would like to thank everyone who attended, especially the service and support group representatives, who made such a valuable contribution to the day."
