A HOYLAND publican who won £5,000 in a community awards contest is using the prize money to fund local projects, such as a parent and toddler morning.
Michael Davies of The Beggar and Gentleman was voted Hull and Yorkshire winner in the Enterprise Inns Community Heroes Awards 2014.
Michael said the money would be used to support local community projects such as a parent and toddler morning at the pub.
He has also taken over the local PubWatch scheme which has been expanded to include supermarkets, garages and off-licences.
The pub also runs a Meals on Wheels service to elderly and disabled people and helped organise the last Hoyland Christmas celebrations.
He now goes forward to the national final on October 22 against 17 other regional winners, where he stands to win £10,000.
