PLANS for a scarecrow festival in Wombwell are underway and those behind the idea want people to come forward and help organise it.
Wombwell Community Alliance secretary Alan Taylor is opening the idea for consultation.
Alan said: "It's an ambitious project to bring to Wombwell. If everyone who is running events in the summer, all the schools and groups could get together we could organise something really great.
"What the project is looking for is someone or a group of people to step up and take the reigns."
Scarecrow festivals invite members of the local community to create their own scarecrow or Guy Fawkes model and display it in public. An independent panel would judge entries and small prizes could potentially be given out to winners.
