MEMBERS of the Barnsley-Schwaebisch Gmuend Twin Town Society have re-elected chairman, Dennis Johnson, and deputy chairman, Keith Jowett, at their annual meeting.
In his report, Mr Johnson described the ‘highs’ of the year being the visit to Barnsley by a large party from the German twin town in July last year and the society’s participation in the Christkindlmarkt. ‘Lows’ of the year included the death of long-standing member, Ray Glover, and the recent illness of former deputy chairman, Peter Saxton.
While this year is the ‘fallow’ year with no official visits by either society, several members are scheduled to attend Baden Wurttemberg twin town in July.
Arrangements are also being made for a coach outing and a society dinner.
Meetings are to continue to be held at Silkstone Lodge on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm.
