A PLATTS Common mum says she is touched by how Hoyland people are still rallying round to help her after the death of her husband left her struggling to make ends meet.

Danii Pönnicke was planning to marry partner Wolf Stang, 50, next year on their tenth anniversary of being together but project manager Wolf - known as 'Wolfie' - died suddenly of a brain aneurysm while working away in the Scottish borders.

Danii, 43, and their daughter Charlotte, nine, were left struggling with very little money and support as Wolf was the main breadwinner. Danii had to pay £1,000 to have Wolf's body brought back to Barnsley for the funeral. Generous Hoylanders came to the rescue and raised £600 to help.

Dannii said: "In our last phone messages we were just playing a silly Easter egg hunt where he had hidden a bottle of wine for me in the house. He was texting clues for me to find it and then the texts went quiet. I have lost my soulmate."
