THE letting agent featured in a shocking Channel 4 programme about the housing problems in Goldthorpe says he wants to tidy up the village and its image.
Britain's Benefits Tenants aired on Monday night and featured Goldthorpe-based company 2Let4Sale's owner Andrew Dyke, 42, and the issues he faces with tenants and from landlords, some of whom are absentee.
Andrew felt the programme could have been misinterpreted by some people and as a token of his desire to work on problems he will be donating £1,000 to the Goldthorpe Development Group, which had been critical of the show.
"I've not been paid for the programme but I'm more than happy to make a donation to the group so that we can work together," he said. "To bring the village down would not be in my interests."
In the show, there was one instance where a resident was shooting rats in his kitchen with an air rifle and it also showed Andrew and employees of his company clearing up a former cannabis factory.
