A PLATTS Common resident has slammed the 'district heating' scheme in a complex of bungalows saying it is unaffordable.
Christopher Davis, 31, who lives in a bungalow at Sunrise Manor, says he is afraid to turn the heating on most of the time because it is so expensive.
He said: "I moved here in October last year. A new system of district heating had been installed in the bungalows and all winter this system has been terrible.
"It is very expensive to have the heating on, sometimes in excess of £35 a week. I have had to buy two electric heaters to try to save on usage. Everyone who I have spoken to really hates the new system."
The communal heating system means people do not have their own boilers.
A spokeswoman for Berneslai Homes said: "We are always concerned when tenants raise the cost of their heating with us. We want Mr Davis to stay warm and safe in his home and will investigate Mr Davis' heating bills to see if they are reasonable and will contact him direct about this matter and the other matters he has raised."
