THE SEARCH for Barnsley’s grooviest grandparents is starting this week in a new competition.

The Chronicle is looking for proactive pensioners, outstanding OAPS and sexy sexagenarians to take part.

All you have to do is nominate your parent or grandparent and send us a short statement saying why they should win, along with a photo.

If they’ve done anything unusual that makes them stand out or something special for you or someone else, we want to hear from you.

Perhaps your grandma prefers netball to knitting or your grandad prefers motocross to crosswords.

They don’t have to be adrenaline junkies - maybe they’ve done something amazing or they’re just young at heart.

Our expert panel of judges will go through all the entries and decide who is most deserving of the grooviest granny and grandad title.

Some of the best will be featured in the Chronicle over the next few weeks and fantastic prizes will be on offer for the winning grandad and grandma.
