Barnsley lost at home to League One's bottom club Crewe Alexandra at Oakwell on Saturday.

Crewe took the lead in the 15th minute but Reds skipper Alfie Mawson levelled within a minute. Barnsley dominated the rest of the match but once again lacked cutting edge and conceded the winner with ten minutes to go.

Head coach Lee Johnson kept the same starting line-up for the fourth successive game while Paul Digby and Harry White came on to the bench as Dan Crowley and Simeon Jackson were on international duty.

After barely attacking in the first 15 minutes, Crewe took the lead through a very powerful 20-yard free-kick from Ryan Colcough which flew into the top right corner. But Barnsley were level a minute later as Mawson headed home a corner by Conor Hourihane.

The Reds continued to be the better team in the first half without scoring as Harris had a penalty appeal turned down before he put in a cross which Sam Winnall headed over from close range.

At the other end, Nick Townsend was only tested once when he saved comfortably from Brad Inman.Mawson and Reece Wabara forced two saves each out of visiting goalkeeper Ben Garratt while Marley Watkins headed a good chance over and was inches away from turning the ball in at the back post after excellent work by Winnall.

Johnson was also upset with some of the linesmans' decisions including a goal from Winnall which was ruled out for offside.Crewe eventually netted from one of their few attacks in the second half as Lauri Dalle Valla turned in a cross from the right in the 80th minute.
