FOODBANKS at Gateway churches in Barnsley and New Lodge have fed more than 5,000 people since they were set up three years ago.
People are referred to the foodbanks by 30 agencies and can use the service up to three times a year.
Now donations of food for Christmas and for volunteers to help out are being sought.
