STUDENTS at a Shafton school started their annual campaign to help out the Barnsley Foodbank Partnership’s pre-Christmas donation drive this week.

Organised by Outwood Academy employees Katie Hall and Sarah Phillips, the scheme - which encourages students to pledge items including tinned goods, rice and other items with long shelf lives - runs for two weeks and got underway on Monday.

Katie said: “We had an overwhelming response last year so we’re hopeful of bettering it this time round. It’s started well and we’ve had more than 100 items donated in the campaign’s first few days.”
