FURIOUS Royston residents are considering legal action after a property company bulldozed their back gardens.

Police were called to three houses on East End Crescent on Thursday morning after residents complained that developers had ploughed through their land, but were unable to intervene because it was said to be a civil matter.

Four security guards held up a steel barrier at the bottom of the gardens to stop residents obstructing while a large digger smashed through fences and hedgerows.

Resident Linda Hill, 53, was in tears as she described what her garden used to look like.

“There was a fence at the bottom and hedges and shrubs at the sides. It was lovely.

“I don’t want compensation. I want my land.”
