ALMOST 3,500 incidents of fly-tipping were recorded across Barnsley last year with the annual cost to the council of tackling fly-tipping and littering topping £2m.
There were 3,454 recorded incidents during 2015, which was up 31 per cent from the 2,638 in 2014, and up by 68 per cent when compared to the 2,050 in 2013.
It’s an average of more than nine incidents of fly-tipping every day and a member of Barnsley Council’s cabinet is urging people to report any information they have to help tackle the ‘unacceptable’ scourge of fly-tipping.
