WHEELCHAIR table tennis star Sue Gilroy continued her build up to the Beijing Olympics by adding more medals to her impressive collection following success in Ireland. In the open event for all disabilities, she won silver and just missed out on the gold to a Chinese lady. In the team event she and her partner won bronze and in the class 4/5 event she again won bronze losing out on the silver on count back. During the event, Sue never dropped a match to opponents within the same classification of disability and the event as a whole was one of the strongest competitions she has played in. Sue also returned home to find out that she had won the FDSO (Federation of Disability Sport Organisation's) Female Sports Personality of the year award for 2006, which her son Ryan collected on her behalf at a sports awards dinner held at Leeds United banqueting suite. The award topped off a fantastic season which also saw Sue captain a team to success in the Sheffield Table Tennis League, with her team winning the league and gaining promotion to Division Five.
