A SCHOOL has been criticised after a large part of its playground was turned into a staff car park.
Parents of children at Elsecar Holy Trinity School say they were not consulted about the plans to reduce the size of the playground and claim cars are being put before children.
The work was carried out during the half term holidays and parents learned about it when they took their children to school on Monday morning.
Ian Goddard, executive head teacher at Elsecar Holy Trinity Primary, said: “The health and wellbeing of our pupils is of the utmost importance and our first priority.”
When asked if parents were made aware of the plans to take the playground for a car park beforehand, Mr Goddard declined to comment.
