PLANNERS have rejected an application to put up a substantial fence with concrete posts near historic cottages in the Elsecar conservation area, which was made only after the work had been done.
The decision to refuse the retrospective application by Adam Mottram means the fence could ultimately have to be removed.
Mr Mottram asked Barnsley Council to grant permission for the fence, described as having concrete posts and gravel boards, with wooden panels, though it currently has green netting strung between the posts.
The application stated the fence, within the boundary of an end cottage in Wath Road, was needed to provide safety for small children and also for security at the property.
