A NEW method of preparing Barnsley kids for the world of work could mean more local youngsters go on to become doctors, nurses, engineers and builders.
The Made in Barnsley Programme, which will commence in September, is a partnership involving schools, businesses, health services and training providers which aims to give more local students the opportunity to pursue a professional career.
Chief executive of the Barnsley Healthcare Federation James Logan, who is heading up the programme explained it’s designed to develop school aged students’ attitude and skills to fit the needs of 21st century employers.
He says it is a step beyond the traditional model of a single business connected to single school.
