PUB campaigners have taken steps to protect a closed Brierley pub in a bid to stave off the threat of demolition.
The Three Horseshoes, on Barnsley Road, has been registered as an ‘asset of community value’ by the Barnsley branch of CAMRA, the campaign for real ale.
The group is increasingly concerned about the loss of pubs in the town, which are often regarded as attractive to developers because of the size of the plots they occupy, according to spokesman Nigel Croft.
