BARNSLEY MP Dan Jarvis has raised concerns about the extra pressures facing Barnsley Hospital, should the accident and emergency department at Huddersfield close.
He has raised the matter with Barnsley Clinical Commissioning Group - which commissions the town’s health services - and said he expects an appropriate impact assessment to me undertaken to ensure Barnsley Hospital is ready to meet the potential challenges.
He added: “I am increasingly concerned that a decision will be taken to close the A and E department at Huddersfield hospital. If this does happen, it will impact on services here in Barnsley.”
