PLANS to bring major film and TV productions to Barnsley could boost Barnsley’s economy by as much as £19,000 a day according to Barnsley Council’s head of culture.
Barnsley Council has signed a charter with Creative England to promote Barnsley to film makers and TV production companies with the aim of promoting locations across the borough to the film and TV industry.
Location scouts on behalf of Creative England will be seen across Barnsley over the next few weeks taking photographs of the various landscapes and buildings Barnsley has to offer.
Sue Thiedeman, head of culture and the visitor economy, said the economic impact of the film and TV industry coming to the town would be huge.
