MARTYN Wright will climb 42 peaks equal to to the height of Mount Everest in memory of his football hero father.

The 39-year-old has been inspired to take on the incredible Lake District challenge in tribute to his dad Ron Wright, who was a stalwart of West Green Football Club.

Ron, of Rotherham Road, Smithies, died aged 58 from a brain tumour in 2005 which was diagnosed following a seizure just months earlier.

Martyn is taking on the challenge with friends Steven Jackson, Anthony Ryder and David Hague and is leading the team on the daring three day feat which begins on May 20 covering the highest mountains in the Lake District, including Scafell Pike, Bowfell, Skiddaw and Helvellyn.
