TWO areas of Barnsley could be without poppies this year unless volunteers are found to run appeals.
Mia Senior, Royal British Legion’s community fundraiser for South and West Yorkshire, said organisers are needed after volunteers decided to step down for the Hoyland and District and Royston and Notton appeals.
Mia said: “These two areas could well be without poppies this year if we don’t find any new volunteers to help organise the distribution and collection before and after the appeal.
“We think it is vitally important to keep the Poppy Appeal local and ensure poppies are easily available.
“We know the public like to support the appeal by purchasing poppies in their local post office or village shop rather than making a long journey to find one.”
