It was launched last week by mayor Coun Linda Burgess and is a cause close to her heart.

She said: “I’m passionate about improving the quality of life and care for those living with dementia. This has arisen from my direct experience with my mother and her journey through living with dementia.

“I learned that my mum was still herself inside, she was not ‘lost’ and had the ability to self-reflect but I needed to help her to communicate her thoughts and feelings.”
