IT’S not often you will find a rose at the top of Africa’s highest mountain in the height of summer.
But that looks likely to happen later this summer when a Rose from Barnsley reaches the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Rose Whitelam, 20, from Barnsfold Place, Shafton, is currently studying fashion design and marketing at Northumbria University.
During her time at university Rose has become involved with the charity Childreach International and as part of her fundraising efforts she will be taking on the biggest challenge of her life - that of scaling the 16,000ft peak.
Rose’s fundraising target is £2,895 and she is asking Barnsley people to log onto www.mydonate.bt.com.fundraisers/rosewhitelam? to support her.
