A RECORD-BREAKING number of children entered this year’s Barnsley in Bloom poster competition.
It had a whopping 828 entries showcasing an array of home grown talent with posters from children in Barnsley’s junior, primary and infant schools. The competition was split into two age categories, seven and under and eight to 11-year-olds.
After much deliberation and a bunch of discussions, this year’s winner - picked by the Barnsley in Bloom committee - was Ella Sagar, aged five, from Goldthorpe Primary School.
Runner up in the seven and under category was Noah Shale, aged six, from Silkstone Primary School. Runner up in the eight to 11 years category was Harry Hardcastle, aged ten from Silkstone Primary School.
The Mayor’s favourite, picked out by Mayor of Barnsley, Coun Linda Burgess, went to Pippa Chambers, four, from Silkstone Primary School.
