IT was standing room only at a public meeting to oppose proposals for hundreds of new homes in Dodworth and Gilroyd.
Frustrations ran high when 250 or so residents converged on Gilroyd Club on Tuesday night to challenge local councillors about sites earmarked for housing in the Local Plan, a council document out to public consultation until August 19 that, once adopted will guide all development in the borough up to 2033.
Three major sites included in the plan for Dodworth and Gilroyd are for 200 plus houses at the side of the M1 slip road at junction 37 of the M1; 144 houses on what is currently a field at the back of Gilroyd park and 36 homes at the bottom of Smithy Wood Lane.
