HUNDREDS of people have added their voice to a call for a large area in Barnsley to be preserved as green belt land.
Dr Jo Willoughby who is heading up a campaign to protect the land in Staincross called for local people to back her call to stop council proposals to alter the status of the land by lodging letters of complaint.
And last Friday, the deadline for any protests to be lodged, she travelled to the Town Hall to hand in 232 letters and a petition containing 429 signatures opposing the proposals within the local plan to reclassify a 28.8 hectare area of green belt land as safeguarded space.
