STUDENTS have raised more almost £2,000 in memory of a Grimethorpe lad who died of cancer.
Four-year-old Jake Croft, who used to attend Milefield Primary, died in October 2014 after being diagnosed with advanced neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of the disease.
Students studying health sciences and social care courses at Barnsley College donated £1,548 to Sheffield Children’s Hospital, where Jake received treatment, and collected £300 for a remembrance bench which was installed at Jake’s former school.
Events including sponsored walks, make-up-free days and fancy dress days took place to raise the cash.
