BIG-HEARTED Dickie Bird has launched a Christmas text campaign to raise money for Barnsley Hospital’s Tiny Hearts appeal in the hope of reaching the half a million pound mark.
Dickie, who last week pledged another £30,000 to the appeal having handed over £35,000 earlier this year, was at the hospital yesterday - World Prematurity Day - to launch the campaign.
The appeal aims to raise £1m for a new special care baby unit, which will go alongside the Barnsley Birthing Centre. Some premature babies can spend up to 14 weeks in the unit.
The total currently stands at £444,684.
