A CANCER-STRICKEN mum’s family who condemned a venue for refusing to offer a refund for her 50th wedding anniversary celebrations now have their money back - after the Chronicle stepped in.
Pastures Lodge at Mexborough had refused to give Sheila Wheeler and her family their money back when she was diagnosed after booking to see The Jersey Boys, but has handed back the £272 when staff managed to sell their tickets.
Sheila, 69, of Park Road, Brierley, and husband Leslie were devastated when they were told the other 15 family members should attend the performance without her, even though she is undergoing radiotherapy.
However, the venue’s owner Michael Chappell said the family has now received their money back after the show on November 25 sold out.
