CALLS for more CCTV to be installed in the centre of Cudworth have been made this week after a 30-strong gang wreaked havoc on Barnsley Road.
Disruptive teens, allegedly from Outwood Academy in Shafton, have been causing chaos in the village’s shopping area and the latest incident - which happened last Wednesday - saw youngsters dish out more verbal abuse to business owners.
Simon Davey, landlord at The Star public house, told the Chronicle he is sending copies of his own CCTV footage to the school, South Yorkshire Police and Barnsley Council after he confronted the gang outside the pub.
“I’m led to believe that an organised fight took place in Cudworth and teens from Grimethorpe and Shafton came here for that,” Simon told the Chronicle. “They settled on Barnsley Road and were banging on shops’ shutters and hurling plants around.”
