SWEETS which look like a drug addict's syringe are being imported from China and sold in Barnsley.
Youngsters have to push down the plunger - in the same way a junkie would inject heroin - to release the liquid candy into their mouths.
Parts of Barnsley have been blighted by drug addiction and Coun Margaret Bruff said she was shocked by the sweetie gimmick which she found in a shop in Monk Bretton. She fears the 'rocket shots' will glamorise drug culture.
She said: "I am appalled to see shops are selling these sweets, it is such a bad thing for us to be doing to our children.
"They have to push it down to get the candy. We went on a walk recently and these things were all over the ground. What message are we giving our kids?"
Coun Bruff raised the issue at an area forum meeting and it was agreed to report the sweets to the trading standards department
