RECREATIONAL facilities for the 21st century in Wath-upon-Dearne will be put under the spotlight at a community meeting on Monday.

Rotherham Council wants to provide a green link running from the town centre through to Manvers Lake by linking 27 acres of sports and recreational land to form Wath Community Park.

But they want Wath people to be fully involved and plans to set up a Friends of Wath Community Park group which will develop this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for everyone.

Coun Alan Gosling said that now is the right time to ask the Wath community what they would like to see within the park.

“This area is an important recreational facility for local residents and by launching a friends' group we want to give local people a say in the management and the facilities provided.

“Such a group will be able to represent local feelings and needs and the authority will work with them to develop an appropriate plan for a range of facilities that will reflect what the community wants."
