A CHRISTMAS card designed by a girl at a Wath-upon-Dearne school will be landing on the mat of the Prime Minister - but is still at the printers.
He will be one of hundreds of recipients of the card to be sent out worldwide by Warwick University which has been designed by Cerris Robinson, nine, a pupil at Our Lady and St Joseph’s Catholic primary, Wath-upon-Dearne.
It was a surprise when she heard her name called out as one of the award winners at the University of Warwick Awards for Excellence in Enterprise Education at the Holiday Inn, Rotherham on Tuesday. “I’d no idea I was going to win anything and am not rea bothered that they haven’t printed my card yet,” said Cerris, who received £50 WH Smith vouchers.
However, the school and her mum, Samantha, a teacher assistant at the school, were all disappointed. “We were really looking forward to seeing the card, but it has been held up and won’t be ready for at least two weeks,” said Mrs Robinson.
“Cerris is very artistic and imaginative and any money she receives at Christmas and for her birthday is spent on books and drawing equipment.”
Cerris’s class took part in Make £5 Blossom, part of a programme to develop enterprise education which is run by Rotherham Ready who organised the event.
“We’re delighted that they were so impressed with the standard of art in our school and they said that the card portraying the Christmas message was outstanding,” said Maura Booth, acting headteacher.
